Audio Note L2 Pre-Amplifier Kit
Successor to the original Audio Note Pre-Aplifier Kit (and formerly called the M2 Pre-Amplifier Kit)
|
We are pleased to announce our newly enhanced Audio Note Pre-Amplifier Kit - Its called the L2 Pre-amplifier and uses the popular M2 Power supply (6X5/ECL82) along with a dual 12AU7 Line Stage which can be hardwired or PCB along with the newly designed L2 Phono Stage (12AX7 / 12AU7).
This pre-amplifier is ideal for DIY builders looking for a top of the line classic tube Audio Kit from Audio Note.
The features are numerous including:
The new optional L2 Phono Stage designed by Andy Grove yields a perfect RIAA curve using a 12AX7 input and 12AU7 output (optional output tube available in a 6922/6DJ8 configuration).

Control Options
|
We are shipping the kit with a Noble Pot and a little PCB which makes for easy connection - A number of customers have wanted to use more exotic stepped attenuators, balance controls, along with stereo and mono controls.
It is possible to fit either one stereo or two mono potentiometers to the L3 Line Pre-amplifier - the choice is yours and we have the correct front panel to accomodate either configuration.
A number of makes are available to you including Goldpoint and DACT etc. (amongst others). The pictures below show Goldpoint and DACT stepped attenuators.

Input Selector Extender Option (Line-only Version)
|
We have also added a very high quality extender kit for the ELMA selector with a custom made bracket for the ultimate in short length leads and high quality switching.
Normally, a pre-amplifier's input selector switch is physically situated on the front panel. This means that all of the inputs have to be routed quite a long way. Our solution is to use an extender. This allows the switch itself to be mouted closer to the input sockets so that much smaller lengths of wire can be used to connect to it.
The extender kit can only be used with the line-only version as there is no room with the phono board fitted.

AudioNote Kits is now able to offer a good quality auto-ranging digital multimeter that you can use to test your kit during and after the build. Along with the test CD's that we provide with the kits, you will be able to do accurate DC, AC and resistance checks with your multimeter optionally supplied with the kit to assure a correctly working unit. The unit is very easy to use with a simple click to change from AC to DC to ohms and we will explain how to use the meter in the documentation. Please enquire about one if you don't already own a meter. Click here for more information. |
"I had been a kit builder many years ago and had done an MK3 Dynaco with its short 12 page kit setup manual; But your manual with 88 pages of step by step instructions and photos JUST SIMPLY BLEW ME AWAY. I was so impressed about it that I ran off a copy for my own personal knowledge and so I can study it alot without being tied to the computer screen."

"The L2 phono stage is installed and operating flawlessly. Still messing around with it a little and letting it break in some before evaluation, but my early thoughts are excellent ones."

There is absolutely no hum when both volume pots of the amplifier and the pre-amplifier are turned towards maximum. The cosmetic of this product is also really pleasant, thanks to Brian for consistently improving and refining his kit products.
